The Vortex Tube is a simple and unique fluid dynamics device that can directly separate compressed gas into two gas streams with different temperatures. Specifically:

  1. Working Principle: Compressed gas (usually air) enters at high speed from the tangential inlet with threads or guide rings of the vortex tube, causing the air flow to produce strong swirling motion. The high-temperature gas swirling at low speed in the center is discharged from the core of the tube, forming a hot air flow; while the low-temperature gas swirling at high speed is discharged outward from the periphery of the tube, forming a cold air flow.
  2. Structural composition The main body of the vortex tube is composed of an outer tube and an inner tube. There is a throttle hole in the center of the inner tube, and high-speed air is injected tangentially from the inlet to form a vortex. High-temperature gas is discharged from the core of the tube, and low-temperature gas is discharged from the periphery of the tube. Some models are also equipped with auxiliary devices such as guide rings.
  3. Application fields As a micro-cryogenic refrigeration device with no moving parts, the vortex tube has the advantages of simple structure, no moving parts, no pollution, etc. It has been widely used in:
  • Electronic chip heat dissipation
  • Industrial and scientific instrument cooling
  • Cooling of cutting processing equipment
  • Respiratory equipment dehumidification and energy saving
  • Spacecraft cabin air conditioning and other fields
